Ramesh Kumar Maskeyadmin
Prof. Dr.-Ing. Ramesh Kumar Maskey is a Product Development Consultant. He has an M.Sc. in Civil Hydropower Engineering from Byelorussian National Technical University, Byelorussia, the then USSR (1987) and M. Sc. in Resources Engineering (1996) and a Doctorate in Civil Engineering (2004) from the University of Karlsruhe, Germany.
Prof. Dr.-Ing. Ramesh Kumar Maskey encompasses a wide range of academic knowledge and practical skills in engineering fields from different countries. Prof. Maskey has more than 33 years of working experience in civil engineering, one-third of which is in industries. He started his professional career as a lecturer at Institute of Engineering, Tribhuvan University, as a suspension-bridge engineer at Swiss Development Cooperation and worked for Arun-III Hydroelectric Project at Nepal Electricity Authority. He worked in Germany in various capacities including Research Engineer and Associate Scientist at University of Karlsruhe and Executive Director of N&N-HolzMarkt GmbH. After returning from Germany he joined Kathmandu University (KU) as a Professor.
Dr. Maskey is a passionate educator, researcher, and innovator. He was the coordinator of Centre for Excellence in Production and Transportation of Electrical Energy at KU. His research area covers hydraulics, river and dam engineering, hydropower engineering, renewable energy technologies, mini-grid hybrid systems, mechatronics and robotics, design, and fabrication of generator and turbines. He developed a mini-grid laboratory, the hydraulic laboratory at KU, and technology to generate electricity from water supply and watermills in rural areas. He published more than forty scientific papers on the above-mentioned fields. His current research interest is in Food-Energy-Water-Waste (FEW) Nexus. Dr. Maskey is the recipient of national and international awards for his works.
Prof. Maskey is a member of the International Advisory Boards of different international conferences. He is the Managing Editor of Nepal Journal of Science and Technology, a member of the editorial board of Hydro-Nepal Journal of Water Energy and Environment, and International Journal of Precision Engineering and Manufacturing-Green Technology, South Korea. He was the founding President of Water and Energy Consultants’ Association Nepal (WECAN) and is also the life member of several other professional societies in Nepal and abroad. Dr. Maskey is the Executive Council Member of UNESCO-NATCOM (National Commission) and the Coordinator of the UNESCO-Science Committee. At present, he is serving as the President of Nepal-German Academic Association, President of Goethe Centre for Cooperation Partner, President of Shree Jaljala Maskey Pariwar Sanstha, and the Research Ambassador of German Academic Exchange Services, Germany.
